I'm thinking of getting a new dressage saddle. I currently have a Wintec Isabell, which I like and it's ok, but I'd like something better. I want something with a deep seat and big knee blocks.......I like that held in feeling

I have a 15.1 Welsh D who moves more like a big WB than a Welsh cob

So suggestions please, Thanks

Another vote for Ideal- have two weeks left and new Ideal dressage saddle will be ready for horsey (a section d too!) Only sat on a tester saddle for hour or so but it was soooo nice, and very reasonable price too!

Hi, my OH has a tack shop and if your interested has a limited number of Anky dressage saddles available - they are in Buffalo leather (like stubbens) and come with BIG dressage style blocks or smaller ones (if you don't like big ones I guess) - they velcro in place - someone on our yard has just bought one and as I ride the horse which it was bought for I can tell you it SOO comfy! I really want one, but can't really justify a new saddle atm - Gutted!
Anyway, these saddles retail at 1700 pounds and he has a limited number available brand new with tags etc for 950 - simply because they have changed this model to have a inter-changeable gullet system. PM me if your interested - it's a bona-fide saddlery shop btw not some kind of online deal thing!

I don't have one, but a friend has one and she has the larger blocks not the smaller ones. It makes you feel soooooooo secure and that "held in feeling" you are after is definitely this saddle. Even when you just sit in it on a saddle horse you feel like your stuck in the saddle !!!!!!

I rode a 17hh warmblood the other day in his Jaguar dressage saddle- I have to admit I always thought the big brand tack was a bit gimmicky and (without testing it!) I assumed it wouldn't be up to much

but OH-MY that saddle was glorious!! £2000 and you would expect to be held I suppose, but it genuinely did feel like a £2000 ride

I have tried most but it has to be the Sue Carson Harmony saddle for me every time, holds you nicely in a deep seat position no matter what 'aires' they throw at you

I have the Albion SLK which does a good job of helping me stay on board. Also the Jaguar XKC does an equally good job.

The Bates Innova... yes it does 'hold' you on, however you can't move your knee for love nor money and I just don't see how that is a good thing!

Unless the pannels have been changed then they're shocking for horses backs, they sit really badly and don't distribute the weight at all, it's all focused in one area.

How about a Heather Moffat Fhoenix? I sink into mine and don't budge!

I have an Ideal Jessica for my very large moving Welsh Cob. ON first sight, i was disappointed by the flatness of the seat compared to some others. However, I do most of my trot work in sitting trot now and wow, what a huge improvement on the mare. My friend has an absolutely HUGE moving Morgan stallion and really wants a deep seat and large thigh block. She sat in my saddle and went and ordered one a Suzannah - however, the saddler is putting it on a Jessica tree as he's got a rather flat back. So another two votes for Ideal!

My derby house kentucky is fab, im 5'2 and he is 16.3 huge warmblood. It keeps me in place but sadly too small for him now. Its now needing a new home if its any use
