I am looking for a dressage saddle for my pony, but on a tight budget (as in VERY tigh - like under £150 so looking on beay) and fusy also as i have a 14.2hh pony (med fitting) so has to be 16-17", anyway, I have seen one that should fit but its not got much knee roll, my question is basically how much do you rely on hvaing knee rolls in your saddles?
Also the ones without huge blcoks seem to be lighter in weight in general as do most the older dressage saddles, as I am paranoid about using a heavy saddle on my little pony!
I have a CC jump saddle at the moment and do find it very different to ride in being used to stubbens etc with blocks.

So yes, would you be happy to ride in an older saddler or is a big expensive saddle with big blocks/rolls esential?

I just sold my wintec dressage saddle, like new. £100!
that was a 17' med gullet fitted. It was a lovely saddle, I got a lovely leather one so there was no point in having 2

My new one (2nd hand) Is lovely, its quite light, not massive blocks on it.

I just sold a lovely old dressage saddle, was a albion legend and i swapped a couple of bits for it at a car boot sale.
Unfortunately my sisters pony had to be majorly slim for it to fit but it was the most comfortable saddle i've ever sat in, didn't have huge knee rolls but i felt secure in it.

Thanks for replies

Thing is little mare is a sweetie but CAN be a bit sharp but I think she will settle down as I havnt had her long, have been warned off broncing fits (not that she has produced any yet!) but just not sure how secure I would be, whilst saying this at the moment I have a saddle with jack sh1t to keep me in so a sure I would be fine with a dr with no blocks!
