Hi,

Does anyone know of someone who would be willing to teach on a schoolmaster in the Berks/Oxon/S.Bucks sort of area. I could go back to Talland (and will if I can't find anywhere else suitable), but ideally would like to find somewhere closer to home for some regular training over the next few months.

Looking for a horse trained AM+ really.

Many thanks

I'm having a lesson at Turville Valley Stud (near Henley) tomorrow so will let you know if that's good!

Thanks Jiffy, I tried them and they wouldn't take me as I'm a bit over their 11 stone weight limit :(

Hope you have a good lesson :)

That's a very low weight limit! Would exclude most men I'd have thought, even my slim, 5'9" OH is more than that. Had hoped he could have some lessons there but obviously not. I'd understand it if they were allowing complete novices on the horses but they don't... Wonder what they think of Grand National runners carrying 12st!

I think it's because at Turville the horses are all Spanish and most are around 15hh and quite lightweight in build (and the ones they use for people when they first start lessons there are not that young). They're not a riding school so aren't able to accomodate everyone but it is a lovely small yard with some stunning dressage schoolmasters (several are working liveries). I regularly have lessons there on their stallions and just after a few lessons have made such an improvement. The instructors there are lovely, the horses amazing and the whole place is so professional - their horses are so relaxed and that shows in their attitudes.

I hope you enjoy your lesson there. They were telling me last weekend that they've had to start a waiting list as they've had such an influx of interested people!

To the OP I'm afraid I don't know of anywhere other than Talland & Turville that do schoolmaster lessons in Oxfordshire (I hunted for somewhere similar a while ago before finding Turville!)
