I'm just listening to the commentary at Badminton, whilst trying to do some work!

The average scores are about 40's-50's - now are these scores similar to the lower levels in that a 28dr in (one day) eventing is equivalent to a 72% in pure dressage?

If this is the case Michael Jung's dressage was definitely worth more than a 65.6% or are they worked out slightly differently?

No. They are different, at higher levels there is a coefficient applied which means the dressage scores get converted into penalties and then multiplied by (I think!) 1.3. Ie a 72% would give 28 penalties X 1.3 to give an final penalty of 36.4

Thanks!

I thought that had to be the case, has that always been the case or is it a relatively new thing?

There is a 1.5 coefficient.

My marker is that a 45 FEI score is 70%, a 60 FEI score is 60% and a 30 FEI score is 80%

It's been like that for years

If you have a look on the dressage results page of Badminton's website it gives the percentage as well as the score. Michael Jung's test was 77.05% :)

Pardon my ignorance but can someone please explain the reason/purpose for the coefficient? :)
