<font color="blue"> hi, I have been thinking, what is a good score to get in your first ever dressage test? I have only competed in dressage once so far and I got 60% overall on my pony who I have schooled on myself. so the question is:
what did you get in your first ever dressage comp?
what is your best score ever in a dressage comp?

60% is good

We got 83% in an unaffiliated prelim 1st time out, but my horse has been there and done it all - i just sat there and steered! Also i think the judge was in very generous mood. The highest we've had since then has been 76% at unaffiliated novice and 70% at affiliated novice, 70% unaffiliated Elem.

Anything around the 60's is good though.

My first ever was 65% on a little RS pony

and my best is 75% in a prelim (unaff) and 66% in a novice(aff)

60% is pretty good! well done!!

We got 55% in our first dressage comp, our lowest score is 54% and our highest is 62.7% and we qualified for the trailblazers second rounds. We've only done about 4 prelims though and we mainly showjump.

Personally, I am not happy with less than 68% Affiliated but I'm only really happy with over 70%

I got eliminated in my first dressage test - he jumped out of the arena (and I dont just mean the boards, but the tape as well!) My first scored one was 47%, he didnt have so much of a tantrum then!

My best is 82%, I did win by about 8%, but the judging was rather generous!

We did our first test on Sunday and he bucked all the way round in canter (on the wrong leg) so we only got 50% - I think 60% is good.

Best score - not sure, around 70% I think (judge too generous!).

First score was about 48% I think - bearing in mind I only learnt the difference between corners &amp; circles at the end of that day...

How come everyone's dr scores are so good?? My best ever affil at novice was 64.25, my worst 53.5. Our ave is prob 59.6 so I rarely scrape a point... I've got a nice Cruising horse, a top dr trainer... &amp; I'm STILL consigned to the 59 point somethings. I school 3 or 4 times a week with hubby as eyes on the ground, I do lessons fortnightly...what the hell more can I do??? SO sick of the whole business sometimes.

My first dressage test was when I was about 9 at a mini one day event where we got about 47% and we did leave the arena at A in the middle of our test (pony hated the arena because it was made out of 6 inch hing rope, v dangerous)

Best has been 24.2 (was too generous) penalties so.....*gets out calculator* 75.6 % at a BE event.

My first dressage test was 74% and the second was 76%- both on the same day taken practically one after the other.

They are my only dressage results and they are from last January... got a comp in 10 days though so will see how that goes!

eeep lol my horse has very nice paces and warms up beautifully...get her in the ring and its head in the air and mega tense-ness. Her neck just sets and theres no hope of getting any bend!

Anyhoo worst was 51.8% but the judge is well known for being tough (joy...my test is marked by her this weekend! lol) and best was 62% We only compete prelim and seems as my horse gets her self in such a tizz I'm quite happy for now

I think our first ever dressage was unaff prelim and we got 64% and his highest score was unaffiliated Novice at 81%! Our highest affiliated has been 72% so far. We've only done 4 elementary tests so far and his highest has been 65%. I competed last week though and he did a cracking Elementary test and I only came out with 61% and I was upset at first untill I saw that we were the only competitor to have achieved over 60%, the marks were all around 55% and lower...in my opinion that's just low marking! I don't think you can always judge it by the % you get as sometimes you have to take your % compared to how the rest of the class did. I won an elementary on 64% a few weeks ago, not a massive % but most of the %'s were very low.

Axey scored 60.9% in his first ever prelim and last time we scored 54% in one test (mega stressed) and then 61.6% in the second test which I was really pleased about and looking back at the video he can go much nicer than that too

First ever dressage was with old pony and i got 56%! Didn't help that as i changed the reign in canter over the diagonal we did a flying change when we wern't supposed to cos he realised we were changing reign hehe!

First and only test I did on Bailey i got 65% and 3rd

Good since we are SJ!

My first dressage test was on a "borrowed" horse (probably only about 3 years ago!) my friend shouted at C turn right..... my horse was so oblivious to the aids and in awe at the landscape that we trashed C
shocked.gif
and made a sharp turn left leaving the boards splattered everywhere!!
crazy.gif
the Judge was non too pleased... having just missed her car..
blush.gif
. shame.. it was outside at Patchetts too!! I then went on to make 2 errors... cant remember the score.. or am I too ashamed to tell you lot!
laugh.gif

1st test was on Jimmy the pony who could go in a straight line with his nose touching his shoulder. We left the arena 3 times &amp; the only comment on the sheet was "OOps"!!

Cant remember best pure dressage (think 66%) but eventing it was 36 at PN.

First ever ever test was when I was 11 on a 15.1 appaloosa 5yr old called Al. Id ridden him once before the day before, and got 52% which I was delighted with!!

My boy has done two tests now, and got 61.5% (with me going wrong twice!) and 63.3%
smile.gif

my first ever score on Bloss was 69% in an unaffliated prelim, and she won! it was at sparsholt a coulple of years ago now.

My best score ever was 78.15% in a prelim again with Blossy, and she won that aswell.

Prelims only - 1st ever test was 46% in 2005....now im getting around the 55-57% marks in 2006. I dream of 60% maybe sometime this year !

60% is not a bad mark at all!!!

My best ever score was at a Wellinton Premier League competition where I was riding my 13.2 New forest pony for the last time before he went to his new home - he got 84% and a perfect 10 for one of the movements!!

One of my worst ever scores invloved a rodeo up one side instead of a canter and a 0!! I think the end score was about 40% cos my horse woulsn't do anything i asked no matter how hard I tried.

btw forgot to say the 60% was in an unaff. prelim comp x

Half the battle of getting a good mark is to be accurate and do the movements at the marker and in a consistent outline and pace. You will be marked up for that, not so much for having floaty paces!

Also, ALWAYS remember to go and get your sheet, the comments will be very helpful for next time. And if she/he is around, go and speak to the judge - ask them to explain where they think you can improve. They will appreciate you asking and you can learn a lot about what they are looking for.

ALL THE BEST OF LUCK EVERYONE for this years competitions!!

60% is retty good for a first timer! I'd be happy with that and work from there. :-)

Well my worst has been a 58% and highest is 81% and with that one a championship. talk about luck, timing and hard work! :-)

This makes me feel a lot better! I have done my second comp this morning and got 52% and 55%. I was quite disappointed, but hearing how others have improved makes me feel better!
