I let other people use my dressage tests if they ask ?
Is that different than what Q.1 means or is it the same as they could photocopy it

British Dressage I can't see why people don't just buy them they're cheep enough and you can get them online if you need them instantly.

But for the non BD tests that can be harder to get hold of , well see my post above.

I want to look at the test and see if it's suitable and I think £22.50 for that is too much.

for 45p a test i think people take the pi$$ in not getting them. Most competition venues round here will send you a copy of the test when you enter providing you pay the 45p!

I agree that they are cheap....and TBH, my views on photocopying them have nothing to do with money. 45p is nothing for a test....but I know that if I need a test, and my friend has that test - and a photocopier - I see no problem in using theirs (or copying it out myself).

ISH_lover - I'm thinking more along the lines of actually copying the test in some way, whether that be exact copy, or making your own.

Personally, I fall under the 'would rather buy correct copy, but will ask if needed' category. I have a black file with all the 'correct' Prelim tests in it, but my instructor very kindly gave me her file of Novice and Elementary (and dressage to music) tests, so that I could copy them.....I know for a fact that she has no permission or licence to do this, but it has really helped me!

Agree with MizElx - Yes the copies are reasonably cheap (£2 a time for sheet with diagrams) and I have the complete up-to-date set of Prelim, Novice and Elementary which I bought from dressage direct but I have no problem with people borrowing them and photocopying them.

LOL - I would just love to know what kind of 'comeuppance' those who are strongly against this think us naughties should get....

Ahh yes, dressage calling with vodka voice. Ive done that for one test and I nearly lost my voice!!
I dont have any access to any dressage sheets etc as Ive only ever done about 10 in my entire riding life (20 years!!) so I dont keep them.... but now I think I will keep them as it's obviously going to be useful. And I didnt know it was 45p, Ive always used dressage diagrams which costs a bit more.

You may be surprised but I'm not one of those who ticked the "comeuppance" box.

Maybe I'm unusual in that several of my family enjoy an income from "royalties" - you know, that tiny part of what you pay that goes to the person who wrote / designed / invented something that YOU as the purchaser think you would benefit from.

MizElz, you're a writer. When you get more published and are looking for your royalty cheque each month I assure you you won't feel anything like as blase about it

Point taken, and I'm sure you are right, but somehow I'm not sure that's really the point here. I think it is human nature to seek out the easiest and most convenient way of obtaining what you are looking for; I for one find it hard to believe that anyone would say to their friend/instructor 'No, I wont copy your sheet, I'm going to go to the saddlery/online and buy my own.' In my eyes, that would be madness!!!

As I said, I have bought all the Prelim tests from BD; I have also purchased three tests from Dressage Diagrams, which is a wonderful site. But I have no problem with copying other people's, if it saves time.

I have never done dressage before in my life, and am absolutely clueless when it comes to things like that. I was just about to post to ask where I get copies of dressage tests from because I am doing combined training next week, and wanted to decide what to enter based on the dressage, because my plan of the walk-trot test was ruined by the showjumping only being 1ft6, a perfect excuse for him to pratt about in that too because he'd think I was taking the pee!

my options are prelim 4, prelim 18 and novice 21. I've never seen a dressage test before so not sure what to expect! I suspect novice would be madness, so might just do the SJ phase of that one and do one of the prelim combined training things!

If your going to compete regularly, I think its nice to have your own copies. I now buy the laminated ones as the last longer and withstand the weather, worth every penny
