So tomorrow I am taking part in a uni competition and doing the dressage. I only got told on Thursday and only got given the test yesterday so have not had time to practice it on a horse. Also I do not know which horse I am riding, the one I am hoping for is one that I have only ridden once and that was several months ago, but it is more than I have ridden most of the others :D

So I am a bit nervous and would like some tips on all the basic stuff which is where I get nervous! We are doing BE95 and I have had a few run throughs on a whiteboard and watched some videos and I like the look of the test.

I have only ever done one test before so am I correct in thinking that to exit I should walk up to C and track right (test begins with a track left) and then walk down to A and exit there? And it it salute with right hand isn't it?

BE95 is a nice test I think :) I usually salute with the hand that my schooling whip isn't in, and I usually carry my schooling whip in my right hand so salute with left. I'm sure there is a more official way to do it but I haven't been pulled up on it yet and have been competing affiliated for a while now.

To leave the arena you just leave the arena 'where appropriate', the only open space to leave is usually A anyway - once I have saluted and moved off I give my horse a long rein and walk down to A and exit there. I don't ever really think much about it tbh, sometimes I exit along the track and sometimes I walk down the centre line. At that stage the judge is too busy writing comments on your test sheet to look at what you're doing anyway.

Best of luck :)
