Dressage to music..continued

I really like the pop tunes the Royal Philharmonic does personally.

Willow is a right Mommy's boy and 'gay' as a daffodil so would use Does Your Mother Know? (trot) and Dancing Queen (canter).

If only I could get the Goddam Dressage Divas CD rom to co-operate......

Having a fiesty filly, I love really boppy music particularly hip-hop. Id love to use some this year but its nearly impossible to find any without lyrics.

I dont want to resort to the usual boring old crap but may have to I guess.

I was having a discussion about this a couple of weeks ago with a friend and we said we'd try and use
System of a Down - Chop Suey & B.Y.O.B
Something Marilyn Manson (possibly Tainted love and/or Mobscene)
Something Punk thrown in
Infernal - Paris to berlin
aaaand
The crazy frog Vs Axel Fox

lmao!!!

I used the austin powers theme for canter to show off Merlins mojo in canter!

and the avengers theme for his trot as it has a good beat, both suited him as he likes to think he is a real ladies man! we couldn't think of one for the walk so we used strangers on the shore...

Life would be so much easier if you could have lyrics!!

Some music I may use is - B52's Groove is in the heart and Sophie Ellis Bextors - Murder on the dance floor.

Well it sounds weird but it worked well. With my palomino connemara x mare I used brass band music from that brasssed off file and cd that was out a few years back.

some how suited us perfectly and we regularaly got comments on how well the music was chosen.

Super Kat that would be great - let me know when you have your debut, Id love to watch.

Perhaps we should have a mini revolution somewhere, afterall someone would have to win the class whatever the music!!

I once watched a freestyle which was all brass band music and it nearly brough the house down!

They passaged down the centre line to the Groundforce theme, just fab!

My all time fave tho was Reimer Klimke and Biotop with the theme from the Great Escape..

After watching loads of tests, anything would be better than yet more.................abba, beatles, queen etc

My sons vote is for Panic! at the Disco - I write sins not tragedies.

Its his fave at the mo!! Hes 9.

Most D to M tests all sound petty much the same but with the songs in a different order!

I'd be more tempted to use Panic! ATD - The Only Difference between martyrdom and suicide is press coverage

I've got a big coloured horse and my entry is in walk to Steptoe and Son. Always makes the audience and the judges smile!!

I school to Mozart or trance music sometimes- Mr D likes the Chemical Brothers too
smirk.gif
I've got a good CD that is Classics that inspired the modern pop hits and that is quite good too- some of it sounds like the stuff around now (Kylie etc)
I've not worked out what I would use- need to get that CD that you can change the BPM to match your horse or however it works.

You can use lyrics! Just as long as they dont detract from the test/ music!

For dol we had Sychopated Rythm for trot, No matter what for walk and Dancing Queen for canter!
Fitted and suited her perfectely. Hence why her music was so awesome.
Used it from Medium (through Jnr FEI) to Psg!#

Lol SuperKat at that music, they'd have a fit!!
x

Right, done some thinking here, and some research

Really tempted to make the track and do it myself now...

I really would love to do a Linkin Park medley... Would suit my horse so well... Right, I am going to have this as my target for the summer!

i have 3 different sound tracks for the same ground plan depending on the age of the judge and the type of competition.
My favorite is from the film sound track of 'Moulin Rouge' and all my trot work is done to Fatboy slim and the Can, can, can.
Canter work is from the opening credits and the walk is Roxanne done to a tango vocal.
Older judges hate it but the crowd love it and you can do great piaffe to the can can can.
Joules holland is alao good and also mike oldfield.
One year in the advanced medium final at Wellington i used crime movie /series sound tracks from the 50's and 60's, found the cd in the cheap bin!!! it was brill! i even had the intro with the halt ' Good evening everyboy... I have a big black stallion with a powerful way of going and big presence so i can get away with big music , On other horses i use lighter music for example River dance for a very lifgt weight little horse and for my slightly camp gelderlander Mozart.
One of the best intro's i saw was Nikki Barratt at the Nationals when it was sponsored by Merc coming in to 'oh lord wont you buy me a mercedes benz...'.Very cool. She went on to win the Nationals that year i think.

Ive just been pulled into the 21st century at the beginning of the year and was bought an ipod. Not only does it keep me calm when riding, but it great to figure out whats good and bad to ride to. The only problem is i love R&B and Garage music, and would want to do something really funky, but dont think it will go down well with the judges
