Well i took Hattie back to do the Pony Club dressage competition i took her to in October, and did the same two tests - Novice Eventing 2006 and Eventing Test 2005 (i think!!!) and after wandering up to the scoreboards to see who was in my classes i was pretty sure i would be lucky to scrape a 5th or 6th in each class - pretty fiercely contested as usual!!!
Anyway tootled back to tack her up and she warmed up ok, nothing spectacular (obviously saving it for the real thing!!!!
) Anyway last time we took her there it was her first time in the indoor school which is VERY spooky and consequently she was not the most settled horse there!!! But she seemed to have learned from last time and was oblivious to the gallery, bits of machinery in the distance, judges box and numerous mirrors
Took her in for the first test and it seemed ok, no mistakes good transitions and attentive. I was last to go in the class and 4th to go in the next class so not long to wait and so didnt get to see my score. Went in for the next test (judged by a different judge
) and she good another good test, we thought slightly better than the first but it was a more difficult test so she was unlikely to have gone better than the established horses
So we packed the ginger one into the trailer after numerous pats and telling how good she was (doesnt like polos so that had to suffice!!!)
To our shock she was 2nd in both tests
with 71.something% in the first and 66.something% in the second - so totally chuffed that the hard work is paying off
and we did much much better than last time which was my main aim
so a good day was definately had
