In desperate need of a dressage trainer, getting into some bad habits and feel like im not getting anywhere! Needs to be somebody in Leicestershire area really as would like to have a lesson fortnightly and not too expensive either. Would be willing to try somebody outside of Leics too. I already know of the trainers at Vale View and it would be just too expense at the moment.

Any help appreciated!

Donna Bates BHSI is just off junction 25 of the M1 so might be worth a try depending whereabouts in Leicestershire you are - she's really very good.

PS on here runs clinics at her yard occasionally, might be worth PMing her to see when the next one is, I know the gentleman she uses is very good, just cant think of his name atm !

Andrew fletcher and ian woodhead do clinics at VV semi-regularly i believe. Never been however so cant rate them. I think it depends what level you want to compete at as there are a some good cheap instructors in the area for flatwork lessons, low level DR and so also suitable for some of the eventing levels at a much lower cost. However if you are wanting to do pure DR at a higher level then you need a pro or similar and they charge a lot more for obvious reasons! :).

I use a lady called Valerie Armitage. She always gets results with me in our lessons, and also gives me nuggets of info that resonate with me when I'm schooling on my own which then help me between lessons. She tends to focus on me as a rider, and it becomes really clear that when I'm sat correctly and doing it right, so does the horse !!
Always feel inspired after a lesson and can't wait for the next !
Valerie is near Melton Mowbray but she does travel. If you google her, I'm sure you can get her details.

Valerie Armitage was a name I was also going to suggest, she is also a regular BD judge so you not only get a great trainer but someone who can really help you get all the marks your deserve when competing!

It definately does depend on what level you ride at. I use Catherine Ellis. She's BHSI and has trained her homebread up to advanced medium. She is based on Notts/Leics border but does travel within reason. I can also reccommend Tracy Dillon at Willoughby Lodge farm although she is roughly the same price as Vale View. She does have good facilities though. PM me if you would like either's number.

Cat is actually a BHSII not an I - but I agree she is excellent.

Not sure how much she's teaching at the moment as she has another 'little' project on the go? ;)
