I was supposed to be doing RC dresage on Sunday, however it was not to be - so I got asked if I would dressage write. I have never done this before and apart from having a sore finger and thumb - it was a very enlightening, of course what they are looking for will vary from judge to judge. For any of you who do dressage I would highly recomend it - you may end up getting a few extra % in your next test

I agree - I've done this and found it really interesting! It's also nice to know that I'm not the only one to get negative comments!

I totally agree. I began by writing for various judges and then I got asked to judge! Have been judging quite regularly now this year at local unafil level. It gives you such an insight into why you lose marks. I would encourage anyone with an interest in dressage to write and even to go on and judge. BD hold various training days and trainers seminars around the country and anyone can go. The seminars are always taken by a List 1 judge and the training days by a List 1 or 2 judge. The next step is to become a BD Judge by taking the exam.

I stopped taking myself so seriously after I began to judge which was a huge weight of my mind

I have done this several times, and I always find it extremely interesting and educational. The judges do vary - I like the ones who talk to me as well as telling me what to write. I would really recommend this to people as a super way to spend an afternoon (and a useful one, too!).

I agree too.... it really helps you understand what the judges are looking for and what they actually mean by the somethimes cryptic comments comments they write!

The comments that the judges say that arent for writing down are often the most interesting! You can learn a lot.
