I'm doing our 1st ever dressage test next weekend & just wanted to ask if i can ride him in his Comfort bridle like this one; Comfort Bridle
Also its an unaffliated, will they give me a number to use or do i have to provide my own one like an equidisc?

Thanks

Ooo i forgot this too, might sound like a really dumb-arse question but if i carry a schooling whip with me am i expected to change the whip over every time i change rein? If so sounds a bit too fiddly to me, might not bother with one!!

The bridle is fine! You will need to take a number disc (or you can use the ones that stick on the saddle cloth!). No, you are not expected to switch whip over.
Hope that helps!!

Unaffilated they should give you a number unless they have said to bring your own on the condtions of entry.
The bridle should be fine but check which sort of bit you intend to use.
I tend to put my schooling whip into my right hand and leave it there, the dressage judge will not award or subtract points for the whip being on the inside/outside but they will if you are tied in nots with it. lol.

I am not an expert, but i think that bridle will be absolutely fine - its the bit they worry about, more than the bridle. I think flash nosebands are fine, certainly at unaffiliated. Couldn't tell you about the number, sorry. As for the whip, you definitely don't have to swap it over every time you change rein. My instructor explained this as saying that the whip is only for back-up, if you are swapping it over all the time, that gives the impression that you need it a lot more than you do, so its absolutely fine to keep it in one hand. Also, I am assuming you are competing at Prelim or Novice, where the movements are quite short and you change rein a lot - you'd be swapping the whip over all the time !

At my old yard they used to run unaff dressage and they never gave numbers out - the competitiors were expected to wear them though.

Oh thats great news, have already had to change the bit & was worried i was going to have to buy a new bridle too!
Good news about the whip- yes i'm doing a walk & trot test & poss prelim 4 or 7 not sure yet! Thought i'd start off with something very basic, & am worried doing two on my 1st time out might be a bit too much!
Will look up about the number- may need to purchase that!
Thanks all

I use my own bridle disc but most places that I've been to issue you with numbers to tie onto your back for those who havent got a disc. - Try ringing the venue and see what they say.
Dont forget - no martingale!
Whip - as the others have said keep in same hand - I dont take one in with me anymore - found it was just another thing to think about!
