I have a little 5 year old jockey who is taking my 12hh pony to his first show next week and entering the fancy dress class for a bit of fun. He's got a full pirate outfit...any ideas on dressing a pony as a pirate?!

eye patch (if he is he sort that will le you do anything) but brown bandage one leg and draw on the bandage to make it look like a wooden leg.

Dress the pony as a boat? Or a parrot? Or a Jolly Roger flag? Or put a blue rug on it and the pony can be the 'sea'? Um..... or treasure? A gold dubloon (sp?) A treasure map? Sand?

I'll get me coat.....

p.s May I recommend Jake and the Neverland Pirates for further inspiration - Disney channel!

I saw a fancy dress pirate at a local show once and the pony was the sea/boat! A blue rug cut wavey at the bottom with cut out fish stuck on and a carboard brown painted boat stuck on. the pony had 'seaweed' in its mane and tail. This pony was all so wonderful and even allowed the wee jockey to carry a skull and cross bone flag with him (on a bamboo stick thing)!

Hope this helps and a picture update would be lovely!

I like the idea of a palm tree on it's head. I think I might try the top off a pineapple. Oh, wait, it's not my son or his pony doing this is it!!!!

Actually I was discussing my little boys first fancy dress option and we decided to wrap him in brown card and go as a 'horse box'.

hmmmmm

This is me aged 18 :p so mature. Pirate outfit for me, then pirate flag off ebay attached with bailer twine :p then pirate party plates attached to hat and saddlecloth.
