Hi
I have a 16 years old Tb gelding.
Just recently moved him 70 miles he's been at his new yard around two months now all has been fine, The last 2 days or so his water buckets been empty witch is unusual for him. He as also lost weight an is tucked up slightly an looks ribby. He's bright in himself but has started to not finish his tea an be more interested in his hay/Hayledge net I am moving on to Hayledge to try put weight on so am gradually mixing them both witch he's always been interested in finishing his tea with mixed hay/Hayledge its only the past couple of days this has started I have also added sugar beat to his feed he's on happy hoof an pasture mix. Witch he's been loving except the past two days. Should I be worried? Should I get the vet to just check him? Advice would be grand thanks in advance

I would be particularly concerned about the excessive drinking and would definitely at least ring the vet for a chat. Is your sugar beet very wet? If not I would put more water with it.

Call the vet for advice, I would want him out before the weekend.
Take vital signs every day at same time of day.

Pasture mix tends to be a cereal feed, and really the name is designed to sell a dubious product.
Sugar beet nuts are full of sugar, and must be soaked in excess water for at least 6 hours.
I would not feed pasture mix with s.beet nuts, too sugary.
Instead go for hi fibre hi [linseed] oil diet with salt and minerals.
For condition, feed copra in preference to [quick] sugar beet, 25gms minerals, 25gms salt, and 100-200gms micronised linseed.
Soak the hay for maybe 1 hour.

Rasp the teeth.
