Are their no companies who would do it for you? Would cost more but prob better than trusting a stranger with your horse and lorry? Sorry it sounds like you are having a rubbish time at the moment.

Phone Gillies OP.....what you will pay for a driver PLUS fuel, places to stay etc, its probably cheaper to go with Gillies!
Less bloody stress too!!!

I imagine the OP would quite like her lorry in Scotland along with the horse! I know someone in Holybourne who would do it for you - totally top bloke and he drove 4 of mine to NI from Hampshire in my lorry. If you want his name, pm me and I'll be back on here later and will give you his details. Oh and he's a mechanic too so no worries if it conks out on the way :)

If you can't find someone to drive your lorry and need a good transport company, I can't recommend Andrew from http://www.wemoveanyhorse.com/ enough. I've commented on him before, but he is great value, very trustworthy and really gentle and good with the horses. He moved one very precious ( aren't the all!) TB mare for me, and I've already booked him to move another in the spring.

Its not really much help but if your stuck for somewhere too keep your horse I am in Dumfries and would offer you stabling at this difficult time ( I am not a livery yard though). Also let me know if your still stuck for moving the horse I could try and help in the New year if not too late but it would depend on the size of your wagon x
