as some of you are aware i am currently breaking my mare in to pull a trap. Only long reining at the the mo, but hope to get the harness next week. Just wondering if i need to change her bit to a driving bit, if so wat one? Long reining is going brill, she hasnt stepped a foot wrong.

If she's snaffle mouthed at the moment then you don't NEED to change her bit. If you want her to look "proper" then a liverpool driving bit would be normal. If she's snaffle mouthed start with the reins on the bit rings, for a stronger bit go first to "rough cheek" (Don't google it - I did and you get some very "interesting" links) which is reins round the shank below the bit but inside the bit rings and then dropping down the slots with bottom slot obviously being most severe.

You don't have to change to a driving bit, just because you're driving. Two of mine go in a Liverpool, but my other one is in a French Link Full Cheek Snaffle, as he isn't strong. He has worn a Liverpool though.

If yours is in a snaffle you can go for the Wilson snaffle-
