Took Genie to Bristol Driving Club Annual Show today, which was at a rugby club! The joy of perfectly flat rings....

We got there at silly am as our driver's horse was taking part in a driven class, so decided to whack Genie into the turnout as our first class wasn't for hours. Had her tacked up and was on her in record time, and was THRILLED when she won it! :-D The judge said that she could not have been turned out any better, so was really really pleased.

Then did my first ever in-hand class - Mountain and Moorland All Breeds, and I'm only doing it again if it's not so hot! We got 5th which I was really pleased with. She almost went to sleep in the ring.

After that we had a nice long break in the shade, and then it was the Ridden M&M, which they ended up splitting. However, having watched 14 other horses go, Genie was completely switched off and too hot so didn't show as well as she usually does. Can't say I blame her as I was also hot and bothered! Was very pleased however when we were pulled in 5th! Judge said she's lovely but I need to get her transitions better (which I know!)

We were going to do the ridden cob, but I withdrew her as it was hot and she was close to the point of having had enough, so I took her to the lorry and she had some time in the shade. We went into the championship but the judge had already made her mind up and we didn't even get glanced at. Disappointing but that's the way it goes and the horses that she chose were lovely.

So... photos!

First of all, two that are her attempt at the shiniest horse on HHO title!

She looks really super, and how lucky were they with the weather. Be nice if that show becomes a permanent fixture, I called in briefly, which horse won the champs.

Sounds like a good day Fi, more ribbons in the bag and lovely flat ground. Shame about the championships but it was hot and we didnt even stay for ours as we wanted to end on a good note with my arab as he had been a good boy and it was his first outing. When is your next show and where is it, we will meet up.

siennamum - you were there?! I was hoping to meet some HHO peeps! It was aboslutely gorgeous weather I agree, although very hot and the judge let us take our jackets off in some classes, although I didn't as I had a huge stain on my shirt. The little Welshie that won the Small Breeds M&M won the championship, and the dun Welshie or Connemara (not sure which it was!) got reserve, predictable considering the judge had placed it first in a gazillion classes! Was a very very nice horse... Not sure about the supreme though.

SallyEllis - Hoping to go to the Syston Pony Club Open Show on June 14th at Cog Mill! Am glad you had a good day at SWE!!!

JM - You were there as well?! Who were you?! (hehe!) Genie did a nice show but I let her down with my riding, hey ho that's how it goes!

Doesn't surprise me that some of them will be at Bath and West. I always worry that people will class me as a 'pot hunter' because when I'm at a show I tend to enter a lot of classes, but I do that so there's not so much hanging around!!! Had a long day yesterday so needed something to fill the time!

I will play around with my stirrups up one! Thankyou for the lovely compliment about Genie!
