and I cant wait!! i have had a few lessons now with one lady, but tomorrow we are going to the man that is breaking donovan to harness in a couple of weeks time, so another new experience! i am quite nervous because I have picked it up with the first person I had lessons with, and now gotta get used to another way, but at least I wil have the same way of driving as donovan will be used to. All moving ahead now! yay!!!:D

Had such a good lesson, I am really on a high now! we used the instructors pony, which was very forward going, to begin with I was wishing I had a seatbelt, but it settled quite quickly. he drove it for a few minutes and then handed the reins to me, which is when the panicking started! But we got there, I had to hold the reins in coachman style, which is in one hand, so got a bit muddled to begin with, but managed to work it out in the end. I cant wait to get donovan there now!!

Learning coachman will stand you in good stead whatever kind of driving you end up doing. Starting with two hands can make learning coachman later really hard.

I am going to Sonny Hillier In Lenham in Kent. he is a realy nice bloke, who I feel quite relaxed with, which is good for me. Donovan is going there in 2 weeks time to be broken to harness, so thought it a good idea to have him teach me as well. What about you, how far have you got?

Glad you had a good time :D As said above, if you learn Coachman it will be a lot easier in the long run, even if you then drive 2 handed :)

Sounds great fun, I'd love to do something like that!

Out of interest does it not upset your back? I have a friend who used to drive her horse and the jolting of the cart had me in agony :( It was a 2 weeler though so may be different

It was something I was worried about, but no, my back seems ok at the moment with i. i am on a 2 wheeler, and I am wearing a back support, so with that and the morphine, it seems ok!

I've mainly been doing circles, changing the rein, serpentine circles etc in trot. I'm doing a kind of coachman lite with regards to rein holding as have issues with so many of my joints. I'm enjoying it though :) I'm doing it at Scropton RDA and they're just fab :)
