Two questions.

Firstly how much would do you think a second hand marathon carriage and a 4 wheeled exercise carriage with brakes (horse size) cost?
I know it depends on make, age, condition etc, but roughly.

Secondly do any of you use a full collar, if so how big is it and on what breed/size of horse/pony?

Thanks

You are probably looking at £1000+ for each. We use a full collar for our cob, his is 23". he is a shireXDartmoor. If you are plannng on using one, please measure your horse first as the correct size is very important.
Have you looked for carriages and collars on

For the carriage, for one I would want to put on an actualy marathon probably anywhere from £2000 up, maybe £2500 although you can be lucky if you find one with an unwanted one. I have seen some many carriages simply snap on marathons, and its abit gutting to be at an event and have to be resued by the competitor before you as 12 miles in you snap! Carriagesales and carriagelink are both good sites.

We have only one full collar- 16 inches and doesn't even fit over our tiny Welsh A's head, or shetties or shwopony B. Although I think it is over stuffed.

Great thanks guys. All the ones I have seen are about £2500.
Going to a carriage sale tomorrow and wanted a general idea of prices.
I've measured Gyp at 27"! The CBs I used to work with ranged from 22" to 26" for the big boy. When I can afford it I will get him one made, I don't think I will ever find one second hand to fit him.

Are you going to the Reading Carriage Sales tomorrow? Wish I was going again, I'm interested in the three brollars they have listed. Good Luck!

Yes, it would be of interest if you can, but don't worry about it. Hope you find something you like and don't spend too much!!
