.... I nearly cried with happiness today. At the end of last week, coincidentally on the same day as I found out my horse is off for a year or so and probably never going to be sound, work's driving pony was looking like he could barely stand on the foot he suffered worst with when he had Laminitis at Christmas. I posted about him in vets when my farrier thought it was possible he might have an abscess as well. This pony's been on borrowed time for a while as my boss doesn't like anything suffering a day longer than it needs to when its unlikely it will ever come back to work.
Well, the pony was no better than on Friday this morning so the vet came for a look for a bit of a make - or - break decision. She had a dig at his foot and eventually a proper abscess burst.
We don't yet know how long its been there or how much of the lameness is due to this abscess and how much is down to laminitis damage but to quote the farrier "it'd be well good if he came sound". So I've got my fingers firmly crossed!! Thanks to everyone for all the advice I've needed to help him, you've been brilliant.
