Drontol Wormer

Nope never - I've used it for about ten years for my greyhounds/lurchers, mum/sister also use for for CKCS (including the puppy wormer for baby puppies) and have never had any bad reaction at all

Hope your dog is OK and hasnt reacted too strongly (I am assuming that is what has happened, sorry if I am wrong!)

I havent used drontol but i used milbemax last week and my young lab seemed to have a reaction to it. its strange as this is what i have always used. its possible its just coincidence that he had picked up something else that day although unlikely. he seemed much better the following day and had no lasting effect.
What has been your reation?

I've used the puppy wormer on all of our puppies but the adults had been done with Panacur for sometime, I ordered Drontol and 5 have thrown up all over the place

So now I'm not sure whether to re-worm them? What a waste of nearly £60

Never had any problems with my two labs with Drontol, but my mum's dog (springer x lab) always has an unsettled tummy for a few days after taking it.

I have one bitch who I got at 14 months old and she has always vomited profusely afterwards. I mean almost within 15 - 20 minutes of dosing her and it continued for hours. Our then vets said to keep trying her with it and we did once more but the same reaction. Have since used Panacur or Milbimax on her with no ill effects. All our other dogs used to be fine on it.

However for the past couple of years I have alternated between Panacur and Milbimax on all 11 dogs and not used Drontal at all. The vet I use now has had cases of ill dogs after Drontal dosing and so does not even prescribe it.

i have always used Drontol but I had a weird rection from my girl when she was lactating. She started shaking her head and had a really hot flush. She ended up at the vets with a haematome on her ear and needed meds (can't remember what) to calm the hot flushing. She was not a happy bunny. Has been fine with it since.

Nope. And I used it this month on Popple who has been known to react badly to flea/worming tablets and Puppy who has VERY sensitive stomach.

Hope your puppies get better soon

Yes, I can't use Drontal on my Yorkie, although my Springer Spaniel is fine with it. My Yorkie had a bad reaction afterwards, he was very lethargic and sickly. I have used Milbemax on him since that episode on the advice of the vet and he is fine with that.

Interestingly enough my collie cross was sick a day or two after worming with Drontal over new Year. Until I read this post I hadn't linked the 2. I had wondered what had made her ill. The Lab, however was absolutely fine and they were wormed at the same time.
