We've had a 4 dogs go missing in our local area in the past month or so. Three have been found dead in canals/rivers. There was a suspected sighting of a black dead dog in another section of the canal (4th missing dog is a black cocker), but it disappeared (bodies sink after a while, then re-float, then sink permanently).
I am very suspicious of this. Two are being treated as tragic accidents (dogs chasing ducks and whatnot), and the third is alleged to have been drowned intentionally. Apparently, if they drown themselves, the bodies are flat/straight, if they are drowned by somebody/something, the bodies are curved (head arched down). Does anybody know how true this is? Are there any post-mort tests that can be done to see if it was a deliberate act?

Many thanks :(

It's actually quite rare for a healthy dog to drown.
It used to be quite common where I used to live for certain people with certain breeds being used for a certain discipline to shoot dogs which didn't make the grade and then dump them in waterways :(
