Hi
I have very recently moved my horse onto her new summer paddock, however noticed quickly that her hoofs are really dry and cracking. The paddock is a nice dry paddock no mud or areas of wet with good grass. I haven't changed anything else in her diet, weight/ health is still good and she is fine to ride etc.
So two fold question why the sudden change in her feet when I have never had a problem before in the two years i have owned her? And what supplements can I feed her to combat the problem?
Thanks - I am just a bit baffled at 'suddeness' especially after a muddy winter and no problem...

Could buttercups cause the problem as I have to be really careful with her around them. I thought I had cleared the paddock of them but she has shown the same allergic reaction on her lips the same last year so gone through paddock again and found a couple more... could this have any bearing on the hoof problem?
Only just thought about it as the reaction was so mild this time.

Try using a hoof moist on her feet or effol, both have been recommended by my farrier! Inside and out once or twice a day should hopefully do the trick!

Her hooves are dry because the ground is dry. If you work her in a sand school this also dries the hooves out.

Try Hoof Heal it is a fab and inexpensive moisuriser with things like bee's wax in it. Apply three times a week

Its wonderful stuff most of my clients use it
