Hi all,

My horse has always been prone to mud fever on his one white leg in winter. Thought this may improve with his change of diet at the start of the summer that was aimed to improve his feet. At the moment he is fed 1 scoop hifi molasses free, 1 mug micronised linseed, 1 scoop progressive earth pro hoof and 1/2 scoop fibre cubes with a tablespoon of salt.

This summer he has had dry, itchy, and sometimes scabby skin on his one white leg. Aggravated this week by a small cut. Not bad by any means but obviously I would like to clear this up. I am just wondering if he is possibly allergic to something in his diet as he does not normally have any trouble in the summer?
(He was previously fed 1 scoop happy hoof, 1 mug micronised linseed, 2 mugs topspec leisuretime balancer and 1/2 scoop topspec cubes. Supplemented biotin, magox, yeasacc, salt and equimins flexijoint.)

He can be a poor doer in the winter, and is not looking as good on his current diet as he was on his previous diet, so I am open to changing this to see if this helps.

Have tried putting sudocream on when it gets scabby but not sure if this is drying it up more?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
