Does anyone dry their own herbs for giving to horses? Ive got a big garden with loads of things growing, trying to dry as much as I can to feed them through winter if it would be beneficial to them. Ive so far today cut down raspberry canes (have masses of these and wild very nearby) with the intention of crushing the dried leaves and storing in tubs to feed a mare through winter. Do people pour hot water on the correct amount of herb daily? Ive heard it can help them absorb it better but not sure if true. Also mint? I have lots of mint I grow for us, however I thought drying it would be useful for the mare who also has asthma. Can they have cat mint too as I have masses of it as well? What other herbs can horses eat in dried form (Im thinking winter feeding)? Are blackcurrant/redcurrant leaves of any benefit/safe? I also have loads of rosehips starting to turn red, how would they be fed (fresh or dried) as Ive heard people feed those? Are there any herbs to helps support my elderly gelding?

I dont want to feed things just for the hell of it, Id rather choose things that actually might have some benefit.

Now Im busy asking friends if they have emptry supplement containers lying around as I have none to actually store all this stuff in!
