Dubarrys do a mid calf boot ? they might suit you. I have the Dubarry Wrexford as I have short legs and are fine.

I have short fat calves. I find a lot of boots are too tall and or too narrow. Sherwood Forest boots fit me Outofthecity had some at half price recently.

I'm short too (5 foot) with tiny feet and skinny calves. Would love some country boots, but most seem to tall, wide, and often too big as they start at size 4 and I'm a small 3.

Are there any kids versions?

I've just bought some HKMs which I believe are a cheap version.... worth having a look, they are much cheaper. They are a bit shorter than I would have liked (I got long legs) so might be what you're looking for.
