Yes. Isn't that what they are for? Riding in, mucking out in, slopping through the fields in.

I have 2 pairs, one pair are about 5 or 6 years old and are still waterproof and look great when they get their once a year clean. The other pair are only about a month old and they are great too. I love how they clean up sooooo well.

hmm, i was always led to believe that the old style ones arnt designed to ride in because the treads are too deep... although prob wouldnt stop me if i could afford some!
 
I don't think so. The treads won't make a whole load of difference, so long as the sole is smooth and close-set, then it's the heel which is more important.

Is the sole smooth? I know all the ariats have very smooth soles so are ok to ride in... maybe i shall have to inspect them at badminton... and dream.
 
Yes the outer part of the sole is smooth, obviously it has treads running from it, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the sole is still smooth. Do you get what I'm saying? Lol! Sounds all mush to me when I read it back ...... but I understand what I mean.

hmm, i think so... i shall have to have a look to clarify, maybe i should just buy some to try it out..... but i have no money, i have no money, I think 2 pairs is a abit greedy really, i think you should donate a pair so that i can do a product test

) that there are no knobbly uneven bits on the sole, apart from the treads, but they couldn't get caught and if you run your hands over the sole, it is even ...that's the word I should have used, the sole is even. The treads couldn't get caught in a stirrup; that's the main point.

thanks to you all. I've just bought a pair of the original ones and was told from the saddler that they are not for riding as the sole is not deep enough. They have a riding boot now it has a zip at the back but not as nice as the original ones. So I will be riding in mine. won't feel so bad knowing that every one rides in theirs.
