Couple quick questions as bought some in a sale on an impulse as my everyday yard/riding boot have died. Now I am a little concerned as just seen something on another website that says they are not suitable for riding in?

Also how waterproof are they? I am likely to get wet feet if I wander through a XC water jump when walking the course?

If I have made an oops, they will have to be a smart boot for walking around!

Coffee and flapjacks for reading so far!

I was happy enough with mine - riding wise, they have a heel so that is ok, but they tend to ruck down your legs a bit so might catch on the girth/saddle flap. I did ride in mine, but they weren't the most comfortable - Dublin Pinnacles, on the other hand, were fine!

My Rivers only lasted a year before starting to leak - I wouldn't describe them as waterproof so much as 'splashproof.' I was going to get another pair of Dublins this year, but ended up with Ariat Grasmeres instead, and OMG, I wish I'd switched over sooner! No comparison (sorry, you probably don't want to hear that after having bought Rivers! :o :D )

The shop near me has stopped selling them, reason being for so long they were classed as waterproff. They are not and all waterproff tags have been taken off and the cost price has been brought down because off it.

I have had mine about two and a half years now - and still going strong. I am conscience that they are not sold as 'waterproof' but they cope with fine with going through puddles, standing on top of haynets to soak in a bin (!), bathing horses etc and bar sticking my foot under the hose to wash off the worst of the mud, haven't been looked after either!

I don't ride in mine, but then I don't like riding in anything other than short boots and chaps or gaitors - but I know people that do and they seem to get on fine.

They were orginally made as waterproff but after some problems with people expecting " to much" eg standing right up to the tops in a river they decided to take the waterproff tags off. So I would expect them to be waterproff to a certain amount but the company are covering their backs on returns.

I have returned 5 pairs for leaking soles parting from the uppers, the alleged fully waterproof lining "Dublins words" barely covers your foot and ankle. But they are warm and comfortable till they start letting in water which they undoubtedly will. Dubarries all the way, have never let in a drop of water and have been used like wellies but properly looked after I have just had my 2.5 year old Dubarries re soled £45-00 by Dubarry and contrary to what I have heard their customer service was excellent.
And Dublin are not interested in sorting out their boots I suggested they put in a full height branded waterprrof lining.

Dublin are bringing out a similer boot to the river boot later this year, looks the same but has fur top. Lovely boot but waterproff liner only goes half way up the boot!! What good is that on a full long boot. Think it will prove to be a prob.
I'm happy with my canyons and they are used and abused as wellys and riding boots. Never lets a drop off water in.

I guess I am finding out why they were on sale. They are comfy so far but will bear in mind re possibilities of not standing in water! Thanks for all the replies
