Had a fabulous day at Duckhurst today. Had intended to jump both horses in the 90cms Am Qualifier (as neither has qualified at that height yet) and then Bo in the 1m Am Qualifier as we are chasing points for the Area Amateur Championship in September.
Anyway, when we arrived there weren't that many there and we only just made the coursewalk, so decided to just put Trike in the 90cms and then do the 1m and 1.05m open with Bo instead.
Trikey was brilliant and really felt like he appreciated the step back down to 90cms from 1m, and jumped a super DC. There were 19 in the JO (!) and he ended up 8th or 9th so just missed out on a prize, but went really well nonetheless
Bo then jumped the 1m Am and again went really well for another DC. This time we were quicker and he ended up 4th...so more valuable ranking points, and more importantly some cash
Onto the 1.05m Open, and Bo was great again, jumping a very good clear. We were drawn last of 7 in the JO and there were only 2 DC's when we went in. There were also only 3 prizes being paid though...so decided to go for a steady clear and pick up the third spot. That was the plan but unfortunately someone forgot to tell Bo and he just tapped out the first fence ! If you're gonna have a fence in the JO, the first is the one to have though, so we put the pedal to the metal and motored around to pick up the fastest 4 faulter spot and third place (almost) as planned
We had a lovely day, and for once we won more than we spent in entries which is always nice.
Thanks for reading....
