My horse is suffering from a dust allergy. Usually our straw is good quality but we have a few horrid dusty bales to get through unfortunately. This has affected my horse who has shown laboured breathing as a result (diagnosed by vet) she is on piriton at the moment.

Anyway here's my Plan,

Instead of being out during day from approx 8:00 - 16:00 Iv decided to try having her in during this time which gives her approx 16hrs turnout time. She adores her bed do will take some getting used to but this way she will still get some time indoors to rest & munch her haylage. this may be a short time measure until the dusty straw is out of the barn altogether.

Has anyone else had

I had a tb that was allergic to dust, although the barn was light and airy it still wasnt enough! He was out from 6am to 5pm in the winter and out 24/7 in the summer but as soon as he came in that would be it.. snotty nose, coughing ect.. i had to result in shavings and haylage.. but if another horse in the same block has slighty dusty staw it would set him off again... nightmare
