Dust free bedding suggestions please

I'm trying to find the best dust free bedding options for my boy who is now on 6 weeks of post op. box rest. The surgeon has said he needs a completely dust free environment.
We tried cardboard pre surgery and he hated it. We currently have him on shredded paper but no matter how many bags we use he completely trashes it within the hour and the whole lot flattens to basically a paper mâché pancake so he might as well be sleeping on the bare rubber matting.
The vet hospital use a 'tailor made' for them large sized wood chip which is completely dust free and a lovely soft and deep option which he seems to like and didn't trash.
Someone mentioned Bed Max. Would this be the best option or does anyone else have any recommendations?
Left over Xmas pudding with brandy custard for anyone interested.
 
We've always used shavings & have tried various makes to get the best dust free for our horses. A few weeks ago I was let down by my normal supplier & so I negociated a price on a pallet of Bedmax. It came in at only a few pence more expensive than my usual so I bought them.

It says on the wrapping that they are specifically made for horse bedding & are dust free. I'd seen this before on shavings, was sceptical, but this time it proved right. The shavings are quite large, which I like, but there are some much smaller ones in there which greatly help in the absorbtion of pee. I've also found that them to be pretty much dust free. One of my horses is quite messy in the stable but I've found that the Bedmax has absorbed the pee well & he's been quite quick to muck out.

When my pallet is coming to the end I'll certainly order another. Give them a try, I think you'll be pleased.

Hemp (Aubiose or Hemcore) or rape are both very good. If managed carefully these products don't smell and are dust-free and make a comfortable, dry and warm bed. They are worked on the deep-litter system, removing solids once or twice a day and wet clumps once a week, replacing bedding as necessary. Expensive to put down initially but very ecomonical to run once it's down and very easy to "do".
 
I use bedmax as my horse has allergies to dust mites which is in everything, but since being on bedmax have noticed a difference.
 
I used easibed for quite a while and it's great, a bit heavy to muck out, when you're takign the wet out but doesn't move around much....I found it more suitable for clean horses - it's not good for bed stirrers!!

Totally agree, my husbands cob has to be bedded on dust free bedding due to a dust allergy. We tried everything, before getting to this one! The cob hasn't looked back, and also being a cob he is a dirty begger but this stands up to his "treatment" of it ...LOL!!!
