I have the dustiest horse ever - she has sweet itch so seems to shed her skin more than any horse I've known so is contantly Dusty! Skin looks perfectly healthy and shiney, does anyone have any good brushes / tips? I've wondered about the furminator type brushes but she's got a full clip so don't know if that would be too harsh. Basically I think she has dandruff for horses 😂 any help appreciated 😁

I think my guy has this too. He’s constantly dusty. I bought a coat spray from ivhorse, I think it’s dermatol or something like that, just moisturises the skin a bit more and smells lovely too!

The coat is often more dusty in the winter as it's thicker so easier for the dust to sit on the hair, having rugs on all the time can make the skin greasy so that doesn't help either, you could hot cloth with a squirt of baby oil in the water.

Do you feed micronised linseed?

Second hot cloth and linseed! My boy is incredibly dusty so he gets some in his breakfast with a bit extra when coats are changing

I know some people use hoovers designed for horses for grooming. I haven't a clue about the cost but if anything is going to get rid of dust, a good curry followed up by a hoovering should do the trick. I suppose you'd need a chilled out horse for it.

The hot clothing and baby oil idea sounds more practical.

I've been feeding linseed for months - great for her energy but hasn't helped her coat! She's pretty bad in summer too and I just cannot get on top of it!

She's not a massive fan of clipping so not sure this will go down well 😂

I think a lot of it due to the fact once clipped they constantly have a rug on so the skin does not get much fresh air, mine have linseed all year round and they are dustier in the winter, I tend to hot cloth after each ride mine love it I give then a good rub all over, an old face flannel works well then rub down with an old towel.
