Dutch to british horse passport?

I am about to buy a horse and his passport is Dutch (not KWPN or KNHS, no record of breeding or dam/sire).

So I'll need to change the ownership on it & I would also like to change his name. Is it worth just buying a British one & starting from scratch or can I not do that?

Don't 'just buy a new one'. The BEF will be able to guide you but there will likely be a phone number in the passport and most Dutch are pretty good English speakers too

This ^^ try to renew the old one. My Haflinger is Dutch and she ended up with two passports quite unnecessarily.
