Well this morning i went in to his stable to put his headcollar on to take him for a ride.As soon as i tried to put the strap over his poll he started throwing his head about, at first i thought he was just been naughty but the more i tried i realised it wasn't but couldn't get hand my near it.I rang my Mum at work and she came home to help me see and we still couldn't see anything.I then rang my trainer who we also brought Dylan from and she said to twitch him and if their were and cuts or holes to clean them out and get the vet out in the morning. We've cleaned them out and the swelling has gone down.I'm really worried about him but shall we still get the vet out in the morning?

if he seems fine in himself, probably not. if there's a chance he's concussed, then yes.
i would definitely definitely get it checked in a few weeks (when the skin has healed) by a really good back person (i'd choose mctimoney always), as atlas/axis injuries can cause a lot of problems, esp with going "on the bit" etc.
what did he do it on? does he have a beam in his stable?

Thank you.
Yeap he is absoutley fine in himself but im still worried i might miss something?? I didn't realise i would have to get him checked by a back person so thanks for that!

All i know is that it will mean a couple of weeks off work and this is also one of the reasons, i want to get the vet out so i know how to long leave it?
I have checked his stable all over and can not work out what he has done it on but he has skinned (right word ?!) the area around where the two little holes are.So we are at a total loss to what he did it on.I'm going to have a enough look tomorrow to see if i have missed anything!

Get him checked by the vet. Better safe than sorry and poll injurys can be serious. You dont want to be regreting finding something out later which could have been treated earlier.

Ahh thanks i stupidly never thought of that!

Yeap i will do that i was never in real doubt and my trainer said to phone no matter what but my Mum was not sure but i will now phone the vets first thing.Thank you for your great advice!
