E. Coli!!!!

Hi, my friends horse had it from eating some rank hayledge, it has taken her nearly 12months to get the mare right again, she's an aged mare though, had to have antibiotics, electrolites, and then steroids as she developed colitis. It was a long road to recovery for her but they got their in the end, she dropped loads of weight and had very watery poo for over 6 months, she believes dr green (grass) helped alot in the latter part of her recovery. take care and good luck, hope your horse doesnt take so long to recover :-).

Some horses near me had it. Unfortunately 3 out of the 5 didn't recover. They were either under 3 or over 20. The two that did survive were between 7-14

Wish lots of well wishes to whom ever needs it

My horse had E coli in his lungs this Summer, diagnosed by a tracheal wash on bronchoscopy. Very weird! Not a usual chest pathogen at all. I'm putting it down to the extremely hot dry weather making everything so dusty. He still isn't right and has just started inhalers after a second clear bronchoscopy.
