My mare has always had a few wee patches of canker in her right ear but there a couple of spots in her left as well now, it's not spreading at any great rate and doesn't oftern bother her but I was wondering if anyone knew of any treatment that might be available. Someone suggested diluted Iodine but I'm not sure this would be the easiest method!

what is canker? my mare has white dry stuff attached to the wall of her ear that when shes in an ok mood she will let you pick a bit off. any ideas what that could be? soory to steal your post!

Well it's kind of warty lumps of white stuff - my vet called it canker. I've googled for photos so this is the closest I could find, my mares are further in and lumpy! I'd have zilch chance of picking it off!

my mares is further in than that too. and its more like flaky dry skin. shes had it for about a year now and its never changed therefore i havnt done anything to it.

I think this is aural plaques,my horse has them quite badly but other than not being able to touch his ears they don't seem to affect him

My mare has it in both ears the vet said as long as its not spreading then its best just left. Juat as well as I would never be able to but anything in her ears, she hates them being touched!!.
