I am currently using this 3 x a week

Teal gets ears that get full up of brown gunk. Hes had a couple of ear infections with me. There was no record of it on his previous vet records that we can see.


Is there a better ear cleaner I could be using???
I just squirt it in and massage it for a couple of minutes and then with a tissue just give his ears a wipe round but dont really dig (new tissue each ear).

I swear by Epiotic, used once a week, squirt, hold ear and squish for a few seconds, let dog shake out. Canaural, Cleanaural, the one beginning with S, were all crap for us but this has been a revelation :)
 
Epiotic is good but I find Sporal D shampoo cleans ears effectively and kills yeast.
I mix it at 5% with warm water, swoosh it in the ear and massage from the outside. Rinse after 5 minutes.

I have had ears that looked like Rolos come clean with this.
 
would epiotic be the one that vets normally give you? i am convinced our older dog's hearing issues are just down to his age as we did go to the vets a while back and they said he had a fair bit of wax build up. He constantly wants his head rubbing and, if you rub his ears his back leg will go - ie in the "you've hit the spot" sort of way. We were given some ear drops by the vet but they didn't seem to really make much difference. it would be interesting to try something else and see if this helped (a) lessen the irrritation and (B) improve his hearing!
 
I was given Canaural and Surolan at one vets (the ones I left) but got Epiotic at another (the good one :p) it's a tall, white bottle with a blue top.
It's not drops, it's a wash, you squirt, massage the ear and the dog shakes it out.
 
Sorry, yes it was more of a wash thing, think it was a larger bottle. Hmm, maybe it was that. Maybe I should have put more in!!!
 
One of mine has recurrent ear problems due to suffering from ear mites as a puppy. I have tried various treatments over the years but the only treatment that I've found that keeps the infection at bay is Thornit Powder. Use as prescribed for acute cases and then use once a week to prevent re-occurrence. It's important when using Thornit that you do not clean the ears. Also try and prevent any water entering the ears - tricky I know, if you have a dog that likes swimming!
 
My vet recommended the one they use which is called 'logic' ear cleaner.I get it online as is cheaper than from the vets (think it's beeston animal health I get it from,is only a fiver and postage is pennies).

My setter puppy had quite mucky ears,but the logic has improved them loads.

Same here. I prefer to use holistic stuff for the most part, but this product is the one thing to keep away my pug's allergy-induced ear infections (well, that and a raw diet).
