Hi, my horses started head shaking, also itching his nose like there's no tomorrow snorting etc etc. Was really hard to ride him obvioulsy in this state. I got the vet and he said that he had an ear infection. He gave me 5 days of antibiotics and 6 sachets of bute but it hasn't touched him, he is still doing it and it is driving both of us nuts. He is always itching and making his nose bleed and when i lead him anywhere he is itching on me and pushing me flying. Has anyone else had this problem before.... I am getting vet straight back out again but wondered whether anyone elses horse had an ear infection and whether it sounds similar??? Thanks

My horse has just started with the same thing and i was wondering if it could be an ear infection. He does it slightly in walk and as u move up to canter it makes him nearly impossible to ride. I've tried nose nets as i thought it may have been pollen but to very little or no effect.

Lauren you really need to ask your vet to come and take a look at this.

I know each case is different but Im sure Vicster wont mind me saying that after a lot of investigations and xrays it seems her horse has a growth in his had which is pressing on a nerve. he will be going for surgery to hopefully have it removed and solve the problem.

Thanks for the advice i'm hoping to have the vet out tommorow or the day after, i didn't realise how serious something like this could be.
