Noticed Barneys got some greeny/bluey marks inside his ear, never come across it before is it an ear tattoo and if so why is it done?
Is it like another form of microchipping if that makes sense? :p

Yes its an ear tattoo, and is a form of id. I think I am right in saying it actually started before microchipping, think maybe racing greyhounds started it, and I have had my gsds done as puppies for years.

Yup as MM says it is an ear tattoo, and it means he can be identified and traced back to his original breeder :) If he has raced at all, it will also link to all his racing records :)

Its so they can track the dogs and be sure the right greyhound is racing. The steward that comes to tattoo the pups also takes down their colour and any markings like white socks etc. If both ears tattooed then irish bred and if just in the right then english and you can contact the relevant studbook for more information on the dog.
