Earwigs and batteries

Has anyone else noticed them congretating around the metal parts of electric fence batteries? - do they do it for warmth or is it the electricity itself they are attracted to - like fire ants?

sometimes seem to stop it working. no idea why

I had a Gallagher fencer and they got inside and ruined the electronic board maybe the noise of the fencer attracts them ?

there attracted by the noise and the moisture inside you battery if you put some boric acid around it it will kill them (not around horses) if they crawl through it

Do they actually do any damage - don't want to kill them just cos I can?

never seen them do damage they live off organic matter, lichens, pollen, flowers, vegetables, plant matter and fruit.

Yes we have them too. I really hate the things it's those pincers on the back yuk! Not sure why they like battery energiser clips perhaps we should ask Sir David Attenborough bet he'll know.
