Hi,

I posted earlier about various beddings as I'm moving onto Assisted DIY livery in a few weeks and can choose my own bedding. Thank you so much for the replies. From them and my own research I've narrowed it down to these four (though I'm still open for more suggestions).

The horses are going to be skipped out 5 days a week and mucked out fully on the weekend.

What do people think of Easibed, Aubiose, Hempcose and Original Shavings on a semi-deep litter system.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Rox

I use Aubiose (Hemcore is v similar) and mix it with wood pellets so it makes it cheaper and I get a very stable comfy 'forest floor-y' bed which the horses love and it is easy to muck out and doesnt stick to coats rugs or me! love it! hated shavings with a passion, got everywhere and used loads and yuk to muck out

I love Aubiose. Genie was 2-bales a week on shavings, she's 1 bale a week on Aubiose, so although it costs more, it works out cheaper.

I think you mean Hemcore ? Aubiose is fantastic stuff, very absorbant, very easy to skip out. It is expensive but in reality you just don't use as much. Hemcore is very similar, it is the english version basically. Both are made from hemp. Please do not be tempted to mix them with shavings, they work best on their own.

I used to use flax at my last yard as I had to buy it from my YO. At my new yard I have to source my own bedding and for some reason it all those the OP named are much more expensive up in Aberdeenshire than it is down south! I guess its the cost of transporting it up here. So I started off with Easibed which did stay nice and clean but I actually dont like the feel of it much and its more expensive than shavings so i've started mixing it with shavings for a fluffier bed. :)
