Easiest place to take B+E (trailer) test

Hi everyone, I really need to take my trailer test and get out there with my mare. However, living in rural (ish) Leicestershire, my nearest test centre is in Leicester. I've had a go with a trailer on an assessment lesson round the likely routes and it is a nightmare. Loads of agro and rude drivers pulling out on you, roundabouts galore etc etc. Now I know the theory should be that you should take the test at the nearest test station, if you pass you're good enough. But... I will never take my horse through the centre of Leicester. Ever. I don't want to fail and spend more the fortune it is already to take and (hopefully) pass, so I was thinking about combining a holiday with taking my B+E test. In a nice, quiet part of the country. Like the Isle of Islay. What do you all think? Is it a daft idea?

Sitting my driving test in 2 weeks :rolleyes: :D

Hopefully will be sitting my trailer test in the future (if I pass!) :P

Some DSA test stations are so quiet that an examiner is only booked for one or two days A MONTH when there are enough tests to be taken during those days
 
I did mine in Peterborough and it was pretty easy to drive around. Lots of roundabouts but they're nice and easy really. Only a couple of little wiggly bits through town which were the parts I found the most stressful!

I passed my very first test in Peterborough in a .... 7.5 tonner!! - I got dizzy doing roundabouts :D that was in 1979
I passed my second test in Leicester in an artic - 1988
Both passed first time - had to say that to show off ;)

I didn't pass first time! But apparently it was a very good drive despite that. lol Actually, a roundabout was my undoing but it was totally my own fault and I maintain Peterborough is very easy to drive around. :)
 
Sorry- don't know the area at all (so not much use on that level!) but have you considered getting a lightweight / 1 horse trailer? That way, you don't need to take your B+E test (I think the rule is as long as the combined kerb weight of vehicle and Max Authorised Mass on the plate on the trailer is less than 3000kg- It's on the DVLA website anyway). You can get lessons so you're confident and safe but without the stress of the test!
 
I took my test in Peterborough using my own vehicle and trailer, it was hideous driving through the city centre, millions of roundabouts, getting on and off the duel carriageway a zillion times.

I had already failed my test before we left the test centre (on the emergency stop) but decided to carry on with the drive around town bit for experience. I was just glad to get my new horsebox out of there in one piece.

Next time I'm doing it with someone elses trailer!!
