Easyboot glove...opinions & sizing help?

I'm thinking of getting my TB a pair as he gets a sore foot the second he loses a shoe. I've got the sizing guide in front of me, & a shoe. I've measured across the width of the shoe & it's 130mm which is a size 3...the biggest. Could this be right? He is 16.1hh, but has little dainty feet compared with Adrian, who is the same height but ISH.

Also, would the length include the heel bulbs as the length for a size 3 is longer than my shoe...

Any comments or advice much appreciated.

Hi there

Have a look on the Arabianlines Forum as there are several posts on there about hoof boots and one person in particular is a bit of an expert on Easyboots!

I use these on my endurance arabs unshod hind feet and am really happy with them.

I think that the sizes available at the moment do not suit round feet well and are better on those that are longer than wide. I believe they are looking to expand the size range shortly.

H'mm...we have very round TB feet...wider than they are long.

I may have got an old style easyboot or old mac lying around somewhere, so perhaps I'll have a rummage tomo to solve the immediate 'keeping poultice clean' issue, then keep an eye out for the round feet ones for the 'shoe-losing TB' issue...

(Not sure if there IS a 'shoe-losing' issue yet, but the reason for the poulticing is that he lost a shoe 2 days after I bought him, then trod on a toe clip while being shod...)

That sizing sounds about right - EasyCare are American and they seem to have much smaller-hooved horses over there. I would love some Gloves, but all my TB-types have feet that are too big for them. Hopefully they will increase the range in the future. The best boot for wider-than-they-are-long feet is the Old Mac G1. Take care if you order boots in this country because suppliers often don't seem to differentiate between G1's and G2's but they are quite different in shape.

I found the Boa boots fitted my TB who has totally round feet well.

They go up to a size 4 . Try the saddlery shop, you can hire a fit kit to make sure you get the right size.

I had a good old rummage & found an old mac & an original easyboot, & they were both Catembi sized i.e. designed to fit dinnerplates, so I'm not much further forward!!

Maybe Boa would be the way to go. Adrian (ISH) is okay without a shoe for a couple of days, but I'd forgotten how quickly TBs get sore.

If your horse has round feet then the Old Mac G1's will be the best fit; the G2's are for slightly longer than wide feet; I bought mine from Pre Equestrian on Ebay, very good price and the delivery came the next day!

Its great to read they might be extending their sizes soon, I think these would be ideal for my boy but alas he is a size 6!
