I bought some Cavallo hoof boots and Easycare comfort pads (12mm medium density) for my recently de-shod laminitic. I know these pads aren't designed to go with these boots as such, but I'd read that it was possible to cut them to fit other makes of boot. I cut the Cavallo pads which came with the boots (nothing wrong with these but just wanted something a bit thicker and softer to start with) to the right size then drew around these to cut the comfort pads, but when walking the pony today I noticed that the pads seem to rotate a bit within the boot. There is some space around the edge of them but as I cut them to the same size as the Cavallo pads I assume this is how they're meant to be. The boots don't move on the foot when I wiggle them but one had turned a bit when I came to take it off, perhaps because the pad had been moving. I was wondering if anyone else had used these pads in Cavallo boots? :) Have some of the sport version on order for his hind feet so will try those on the front in case it's the width/ the hoof moving within the boot that's the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

I use the cavello gel pads in the boots cut to the correct size and they also twist in the boot
maybe try cutting the pads bigger using a cardboard template squashed into the boot then cut the pads to match

I have done this before but I think they twist as you say because the pads are thicker the vents are blocked and the get all slimey inside the boot very quickly, I went back to the cavallo pads and never had the problem again, I think they need a little bit of air in the vents to remain dryer in the boots

Yes mine also rotated. Blonde point to make- did you cut the right side? One sides for simple boot and the other for sport boot. I didn't realize that and they vary a bit.
