Eating poo!!

Our 23 year old pony has started eating her droppings, does anyone have experience with this sort of behaviour?

She cant eat hay anymore but this is not a recent thing and has been coping fine on hay replacers for years now so why suddenly would she want to eat poo? Is there anyway I can get her out of this?

Any info would be much appreciated

it could be a sign that she is lacking in vitamins/minerals. get a mineral lick/supplement and see if she stops

I agree with Deadpan. We had a youngerster that have really squirty poo and ate his droppings. The vet said he was eating his poo because he was difficient in certain vitamins and minerals, so we should give him a suppliment. He stopped eating his poo shortly afterwards!

Agree with above my friend use equivite when her horse was eating poo and that worked a treat
