...I was working at a yard this afternoon - beastie allowed out to tootle around as most pristine yard on planet and nothing for her to scavenge.
Double checked wi YO re feed room and assured all locked away etc & beastie AOK to wander around as I worked.

Didn't see her for a whole minute, ran into feed room and found happy dug and empty feed bucket. Livery had soaked beet pulp (about a scoop soaked?) ready for horses tea on floor and beastie had most of it in her tum and the remnants on her beard. Her spinone side came out aged 4...

If she gets into horse feed she squits for 36 hours but fine and happy - she's gotten into cattle cake in the past and survived that (pooed on the hour throughout the night...) but this is the first beet feast... how worried should I be?

She's pooped since, had a big drink and lying in front of log burner fast asleep...

irn bru if you want some!

thankies.

Dunno about soaked, but Henry unearthed and ate a raw sugar beet the size of his own head lately:eek: He felt rather sorry for himself and it all reappeared that night, but other than that, no ill effects!

If it was already soaked, I wouldn't think it will do much harm, although you may wish to leave the windows open tonight:D

Why do we have these nutsy gundog/walking stomach types?

Spudlet you were SO right about the windows!
Up at 230 and 530 and still pooping for Britain but all well.
She won't whine to get out - just stands at bottom of bed and flaps her ears til I wake up. Yup, OH flat out and dreaming.

KK I hear you on the dog food - I wouldn't mind but it's taken me almost 4 years to find the food that doesn't upset her tum or bring her out in hellish belly rashes... and yet she can gorge on chicken/cattle/horse feed and be as right as rain in 24 hours.

Ah well!
