Ebay bargains and not so

I often look at Ebay for horsey things and have bought some good things at bargain prices.
However it amazes me that people bid for items that are often second hand for more money than new say on Equestrian clearance. I am probably tight and don't like giving my hard earn cash away.It pays too always shop around even when buying from Ebay.
 
I agree with you whole heartedly. People seem to think if it's on ebay it must be cheap. Not so. I always check out prices elsewhere first before bidding.
 
I have looking at rugs today on ebay and some are very expensive for been secondhand.

Sometimes with the new stuff if the seller has a shop (online but not ebay shop) the item will be cheaper than ebay and often no postage, some of the postage prices on ebay are a real rip-off !
 
I have bought a few things off ebay, but I only go for things that I know are in good condition and / or new and only buy them if they really are a bargain! It is very easy to get drawn into bidding for things that appear cheap and are (in terms of quality

) that seem to end up going for silly prices.
 
I have had some bargains on there lately.A Herbert Johnson blue velvet beagler from a very posh London address for a tenner and fits like a glove,a 6'9" turnout with hood ,new, £17 but postage was £12.I have just asked one shop for a price on a heritage comfort bridle, hat,saddle,bridle and long boot bags and they replied £79 including postage which I am very pleased with and with her wow saddle I bought on there last week that is my daughter sorted.
 
i agree i have bought things in a sale used them for a year then sold them on ebay for more than i paid?? alltho i have just bought a brand new rug of ebay for £20 less than i could find anywhere??
 
Its quite entertaining really the prices some people pay - makes me laugh

. Ive had some amazing bargains off ebay, but then I am careful, and know when something's a bargain. I look out for mis-spelt things like Pikuer (Pikeur) etc. I have also sold some items and done very well indeed, but I take the time to advertise them well and include good pictures. Of course they have always been good quality items anyway and genuinely not required anymore - I'm certainly not a business. I bought some brand new Ariat half chaps recently for £20 - RRP almost £100. They are lovely. I bought a Myler bit from a car boot for £10, found it didn't suit my horse and sold it for £30 on Ebay. I was looking recently for something and they were selling on Ebay for the same price second hand as they are new, so I went and bought new. I can only imagine people are happy to pay higher prices as it is so convenient. Who knows?

My tip on ebay is to do your homework before buying or selling.
If there are items I am watching and/or bidding on I simply compare the new price of the item to the condition of the item being sold and make up my own mind on how much to actually pay.
So that I don't get carried away with the bidding too often I will use the add note feature in ebay to either list how much I will bid up to, or how much the item is new. I find it is useful in helping me to remember my limits especially if I have a few items on to watch.
