I'm a bit of an ebay dunce, just managed to sell a rug on it but how do I send the damn thing? It's in a rug bag but I assume I'll have to package it somehow, and then do I take it to the post office? Where do I take it once I'm in the post office? I've only ever sent small parcels and I think this one is a bit too big to life over the counter! Any other rug sellers out there?

I've sold rugs on ebay. They fit into rubble bags which are thicker than bin bags. Then you take them to PO to be weighed and just pass them over - my little man at local PO just comes round, opens his little door and takes them off me. Do it quickly - your buyer expects quick delivery or you might not get A1**** feedback....!!

Sellings the easy part! Yes take it to the post office, I hate going to the post office, ours has massive queues and I was once told my item was too big and I needed to go to another post office.
You shouldnt have a problem with a rug. I would keep it in the rug bag and then put in 2 black bin bags or a box but try to keep the weight down, taped up securely with parcel tape. Dont for get to put your address on the back in case theres a problem delivering it. I always keep the receipt as proof of postage and ask for the cheapest way to post, probably parcel post as ours now seems to offer the dearest postage and seems to frowwn when I ask for the cheapest..
Dont delay, you dont want negative feedback.

so far so good I have 100% positive feedback

but thats with small parcels, I will take it tomorrow! will probably stink out the post office as its been lurking in my tackroom for a few years!

I put mine in a box then make myself a nice cup of coffee, get on the internet book a courier and put it outside my front door. God i'm lazy

The post office is probably the best way if you're new to selling. However it can be worth checking the price of courier delivery, as I have found it's often a lot cheaper, especially on larger heavier items. The other advantage is that they pick up the parcel!

This is a great website for comparing prices and booking a courier pickup:

I sent mine in a box which made it heavy to send and carry to the PO!

Be sure to ask for the cheapest post (if that's how you said you would send it.) There are different postal rates for packages - all very confusing. For my NZ it cost £8 but the 'quicker' post cost £15. In my local PO they will charge what they think they can get away with if you don't question it!

I've got an Ebay shop and send sacks of pet food and accessories out most days. I put them in rubble bags, they are usualy blue. Depending on how much the rug weighs it might be cheaper for you to send it via a courier, there are a few on Ebay but Supaparcels are quite good, you just book them and they will come and pick it up. Royal mail have just put their prices up too so it might make it quite expensive. Do you know how much the rug weighs?
