Just received a racesafe 2000 back protector that I bought my Grand daughter off ebay. It is lovely and fits well but the purple safety label has been cut off. You can see a bit of it and no idea why anyone would want to cut it off. What would you do. My daughter has an adult one that we could take the label off and sew onto this one. Why would anyone cut it off?

They say they don't know what label I am talking about and don't know about the purple 3 level. They say they didn't cut anything out of it. Well someone did. It looks fine and fits well.

Sometimes things bought at wholesale that would normally be sold via retailers have the labels cut out

You see this a lot on eBay 'labels cut out to comply with resale rules' or somesuch wording

Seconds may also have the labels removed

Or it could have had a childs name written on it maybe to prevent it going missing or lost if at pony club camp etc.

The colour coding is a very clear system so I would have thought that the stub of a label left would still be ok

So will I be ok without the label on that says which level back protector it is.

Probably depends on what it is used and if you are luck or not for somebody to check it. At home obviously there are no issues. But competing at hunter/horse trails an issue could arise. But really does depend on if it gets checked. Unfortunately the stub will not tell you if bp was made before 2000 which is a require meant for BE

I think if it fits comfortably and you feel its robust for normal every day riding etc then I wouldnt worry. I agree if you are competing at a level where its essential etc then a new one etc would be wise. At the very good riding school my children attended a lot of the children borrowed them out of the shed(it was a real mish mash). I bought my son a second hand vest type one well used and it was comfortable for him. I bought myself a new one(& I liked the racesafe ones and it took too long to order in so I went to another brand) but the different brand I bought was so uncomfortable due to boobs/Zip I sometimes wondered if it would do anything if I fell off. Common sense. My old ones are in the garage and I would still use them. Good luck at least you have thought to get one.
