Ebay saddle issue

I bought a saddle a few days ago on ebay. I paid immediately after the auction via paypal. The paypal payment is showing as unclaimed. I have tried contacting the seller to ask them what the issue is but they haven't responded. I have got what appears to be a very very good deal on this saddle. They were very keen to reply to e-mails when I asked questions, yet despite my 3 e-mails sent asking what is happening with them not accepting payment, they haven't responded. I can cancel my payment according to paypal, and there is another saddle I am interested in which ends in a few days. If they don't respond by the time the other saddle ends, do you think I am within my rights to cancel the sale? I've just got a really bad feeling about this and I've been on ebay for years......what would you do?

Possibly on holiday? You should be able to get a contact telephone number via ebay. Very odd that they've rejected payment though, I didn't even know that was possible!

It said that saddle would be posted within 2 days of payment. If I was going on holiday and knew I couldn't post it, then generally I wouldn't advertise it. It is showing as payment "unclaimed". I did wonder if they hadn't got the price they hoped for and therefore by not accepting the payment the sale is void. I wouldn't worry if they would just send me an e-mail to tell me all is in hand and the issue is being sorted. It's that that concerns me.

I've just been through the whole thing and can't find any phone number for the seller. It is saying that the item appears not to have been paid for yet, but my paypal acc is showing it as paid (as is my bank acc!). If I were the seller I would be responding to the buyer to attempt to sort the issue. I have sent e-mails through ebay and also directly from my e-mail acc to their e-mail acc.

I had this happen to me once as a seller, I'd accidentally put the wrong PayPal details in the listing, so the payment couldn't go through at my end on PayPal as the email addresses didn't match up! It showed up as payment not received from my end. Strange they haven't replied to your email though. I sorted it out by ringing PayPal and they added the wrong address to my account! Good luck!

Don't panic, I've had this before.. Sometime for some strange reason PayPal like to 'hold' and 'verify' money no idea why.. Think it took about 72hrs in my case for the funds to be claimed...

Thanks Bettyboo. The thing is that I've seen an even better (but more expensive!) saddle that ends on Sunday afternoon and I don't want to lose that one if the one I have won ends up being some sort of scam.....

When I tried to make the payment, one of the messages I received was "the transaction ID in your link is invalid". It's definitely not a problem from my end as I've just paid for a grazing muzzle via paypal and that's gone through fine.

I've been having nightmares with ebay currently. A buyer claimed they hadn't received their item despite me having sent it via special delivery with royal mail. They then opened a case meaning my funds were put on hold and although they then left me positive feedback saying they had received it they didn't close the case. 9 days down the line and I have had to escalate it to ebay to get it resolved. I'm still waiting now. If ebay decides that despite me following protocol and providing all I was asked for I will lose my money as well as the item. It's very frustrating.
You can open a case against the seller if payment later clears and they are still witholding the goods. However it maybe that they are relatively new to selling and paypal maybe holding the funds for that reason. However I would have thought they would have messaged you and usually the seller is still expected to dispatch the goods within the time stated. However it maybe that something has happened and hence why they haven't responded to your messages. You can request the contact details of the seller in the advanced tab on most pages on ebay.

I bought a saddle off eBay and it never arrived. It was a scam but luckily got my money back as it was paid via PayPal but using a credit card. Always think twice now but hope yours arrives

Well I've been on ebay chat and as per their advice I have cancelled the paypal payment and I have phoned the seller and left a message on their answerphone. If no response by Sunday then I will just not pay for it.
